Since Meixiu's mother had both asked to come, still being favored, the present for Meixiu had been left in her mother's room. Meirong, having come without her mother as one consort was very near giving birth and they had wanted a consort who had been in the harem longer there to watch over everything, she was staying with Meixiang in the room for the princesses so their presents had been left there.

Her father had let her know who was coming in advance so she had made sure the decor was not too extravagant for a lower consort or too plain for a higher consort. Luckily they knew they were traveling and traveling accommodations were always different than home.
